Do you know what time it is?

It is fascinating to discover that the creation and placement of the sun, moon and stars, is very much connected to God’s calendar of appointed times. Genesis 1:14 reads:

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years…”

The word translated as seasons is actually the Hebrew word mo’adim (מועדים) which later is used to describe the appointed times of the Lord.

At Rosh Pinah we know that there is a tremendous blessing in tuning into the timings of the Lord as described in the text of the Bible. There is a great deal of significance to be found in these appointed times for both the Jewish people and also for all those from the nations who want to worship God in Spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)

One of the ways that we do this is to come together on Erev Shabbat to welcome and celebrate the first of all of the appointed times – the Sabbath.

We also observe and celebrate together the other appointed times yearly. Such as Pesach (פסח) – Passover, Shavuot (שבועת) – Pentecost, Sukkot (סוכת) – Tabernacles etc.
